We are delighted to welcome you and your child to Wellesley Park Primary School as part of our new Reception cohort. We know this is a very special and exciting time for both children and parents, and we are very much looking forward to meeting you all.
Starting school is a significant milestone, and it is natural for children to need time to settle into this new experience. Your child may experience a range of emotions, please be reassured that all of these feelings are completely normal.
At Wellesley Park, we believe that happiness is the key to success. Our children learn within a happy, caring environment where individual needs are recognised and talents are nurtured. Our aim is that all children experience success throughout their primary years. To support this, we set high expectations that enable our children to reach their full potential across all areas of the curriculum, while also preparing them for the wider world beyond the classroom.
As a school, we place great importance on children’s wellbeing, recognising it as the foundation for effective learning. Below, you will find a range of helpful resources which we encourage you to explore. These are designed to support both you and your child in feeling confident about starting school and to help ease any questions or anxieties you may have.
Hot School Meals
When Does My Child Start?
Application forms for Universal Free School Meals will be included in your welcome pack and sent to all parents and carers. Completing this form entitles your child to free hot school meals throughout Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
We encourage all families to return the form, even if you do not think your child will initially choose hot school dinners, as this keeps the option available should you change your mind later. Once completed, please return the form to the school office.
School meals for Reception children will begin on Monday 14th September. The menu for that week will be included in your welcome pack and should be returned to school before the summer holidays.
From w/c 21st September 2026, you will be able to select your child’s meal choices via our school management system, Arbor. Further details about accessing and using Arbor will be shared with you in due course.
The Autumn term will begin on Monday 7th September 2025. A letter containing full details will be included in the new starter information packs.
